TRANSPORT NETWORK

The study Transport Network provides the overall result of a digital links network consisting of several hops. From this study you can get:

- Intervisibility matrix: It shows the percentage of the first Fresnel zone clear along the path

- Summary report:

  • Summary profiles viability
  • Possible incompatibilities

- Individual Results, where for each hop, as well as the results of the Profile Study (Profile graph, Profile Report, Digital hop report), you can get an interference report, which includes, for direct and reverse paths:

  • interference received
  • interference generated

- Incompatibility matrix, needed to calculate automatic frequency assignments:

  • Co-channel interference matrix: It shows the interfering power considering that both the interfering transmitter and the interfered receiver work at the sane frequency. The values showed in the table correspond with the co-polar and cross-polar power received respectively.
  • Separation matrix: It shows the number of channels tha the carriers in the interfering and interfered ends must be separated to asure the viability.

This study provides further evaluate, not only the interference produce in and by our network in isolation, but also the interferences produced and received by other external networks, thus allowing to check, among other things, if a frequency assignment is correct or not.

To create a Transport Network study, you must select the type of study from the icon "Create new study" or from the link of the tree of tasks and specify the service or technology that is going to plan.

 

 

 

Once selected service, the dialog will open for setting the parameters of the transport network.

 

 

- Name: Name which identify a Transport Network Study.

- Service: Technology selected for the study. Xirio Online, depending on the selection of this parameter, proposes a series of radio parameters assumed for the calculation to be performed, although there is always the option to edit.

- Description: Comments or information the user could add to provide more information

- Cartography for calculation of the intervisibility matrix: Presents a list of mapping layers, as digital terrain models or digital elevation models (digital terrain models that also contain the heights of buildings), to be used in the calculation. To add or remove layers of the study you can access the cartography management window through the icon http://www.xirio-online.com/help/es/images/icons/wheel.jpg.

- Profiles under Study: All the profiles which belong to our network have to be incorporate to this list. For this purpose, you have the following options:

    To create a new Profile Study, which will only appear as part of this study, and not in the general list of studies.

    To add an existing profile

    To extract a profile from this list and from the study

    To extract a profile from the list of profiles under study (desired profiles) and adding it to the list of enviroment profiles (interfering profiles)

    Delete a profile

- Enviroment Profiles: It will be necessary to incorporate to this list all the profiles that, although not belonging to our network, they exist in the near environment and could be a source of interference or may be interfered with. To make this list has, the user has the same options as above:

    To create a new Profile Study, which will only appear as part of this study, and not in the general list of studies.

    To add an existing profile

    To extract a profile from this list and from the study

    To extract a profile from the list of profiles under study (desired profiles) and adding it to the list of enviroment profiles (interfering profiles)

    Delete a profile

- Interference parameters: In this tab you can configure the following parameters:

- Interference method: Algorithms to be used in the calculation of interference. You can change the calculation method and parameters by selecting the icon http://www.xirio-online.com/help/es/images/icons/wheel.jpg.

- Rejection factor: It specifies how interfering signal affects based on radio service, the separation in frequency, etc. You can add a new rejection factor by clicking the icon , or modify the default settings by clicking the icon http://www.xirio-online.com/help/es/images/icons/wheel.jpg.

ACTIONS OF TRANSPORT NETWORK STUDY

You can access the following options from the Actions pannel of the Transport Network study:

 

- Modify study. From this option, you access the transport nerwork configuration window.

- Center viewer on study. Locates the selected transport network on the Xirio Online viewer.

- Copy the study. It makes a copy of the sepected study, included the profiles contained in it.

- Common modifications. The changes made in one of the profiles included in the transport network study can be applied to all or a selection of single profiles. In the following link the methodology to perform the common modifications is explained.

- Calculate the intervisibility matrix . The iIntervisibility matrix gives the percentage of clearance of the first Fresnel zone between all ends of the profiles configured in the study. Xirio Online also calculates the visibility with all POIs open in the viewer at the time of calculation . For the calculation Xirio Online uses the cartography set in the study.

- Calculate the transport network . This option calculates the quality and unavailability of the profiles selected by the user. If you want to consider the interference in the profiles of the study ypu shoul check the opcion "Consider interference in calculation", otherwise Xirio Online will analyze the quality and unavailability of the profiles without taking into account the effect of interference. Likewise, if you want to do an automatic frequency assignment for the network, you should select the option "Calculate compatibility matrix" to analyze the compatibility between all profiles. This will allow to do an automatic frequency assignment thereupon.

- Automatic frequencies assignmnet. This calculation covers the need to reuse frequencies when the network frequency band is smaller than the number of transmitter stations. It provides a way to assign automatically the frequencies to be used by the different communications that are produced in the context of a network of radioelectric links. To perform an automatic frequencies assignment the compatibility matrix should have been previously calculated. In the following link the methodology to perform automatic frequencies assignments is described.

- Delete study. Deletes the selected study, with all the radio elements, from the user's account.

- Close study. Closes the selected study and removes its results from the viewer.

INTERVISIBILTY MATRIX RESULT

The result obtained for calculating the intervisibility matrix is shown in graphical mode (by drawing lines between points that have line of sight), and in alphanumeric mode, by means of a table showing the percentage of minimum clearance of each of the possible radio links between all sites involved in the calculation: sites from the profiles under study (those belonging to our network, or desired), from the environment profiles (from other networks, or possible interference or interfered) , or the POIs.

 

 

The following image shows an example of the alphanumeric results obtained in a calculation of an intervisibility matrix. Obviously, the negative results of percentage of clearness indicate that the line of sight is obstructed.

In the case of calculating the transport network, if Consider interference in calculations is not selected, the result obtained is: first, the calculation of all individual studies introduced in the study as profiles under study, and secondly, a summary report like the one shown below.

 

 

If you want to calculate interference, you should select the option Consider interference in calculations option on the dialog of Transport Network calculation.

Once the study is calculated, the diferent interference results obtained are presented as the following examples.

On the one hand, the possible incompatibilities between digital hops, due to interference, which may be found in the Summary report:

 

 

On the other hand, a detailed interference report for each profile under study. This report shows, for each path, direct and reverse, all interference power levels present at each end of digital hop, for each end: interfering and interfered.
